Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, Kejriwal, and other leaders of the Indian bloc express their condolences on Sharda Sinha’s passing

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress politician and Lok Sabha LoP, expressed sorrow at the passing of the renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha on Wednesday, stating that her beautiful voice would live on in people’s hearts forever.

Gandhi said that whenever her songs were performed during the Chhath Puja festival, the devotees and audience would never fail to remember her.

Rahul Gandhi posted on social media on X, saying, “It is extremely sorry to learn of the passing of folk singer Sharda Sinha ji, who was well-known for her beautiful voice. I send my sincerest sympathies to her followers and family who have lost a loved one. The devotees and listeners will always be reminded of her by her songs that reverberate throughout the Chhath celebration. Because of her voice, Sharda Ji will always be in people’s hearts.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also sent his condolences to Sharda Sinha’s family and friends on her passing.

Kharge praised the renowned singer’s role in the folk music business, stating that her melodic voice helped make Bhojpuri and Maithili folk songs famous.

“It is sorry to learn of the passing of famous folk singer Sharda Sinha ji, well known as Bihar Kokila and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan. She popularized Bhojpuri and Maithili folk tunes both in India and elsewhere with her melodic voice. Her voice will be missed by her fans, particularly during the grand Chhath celebration. We send our sincerest sympathies to her loved ones and supporters,” Kharge said on X.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the folk music industry lost a “precious gem” with her passing, as condolences flood in.

“Folk music has lost a priceless gem with the passing of folk singer Sharda Sinha Ji,” Kejriwal said. We shall always be able to hear her beautiful voice. May the family and all of her loved ones find fortitude at this trying time, and may Chhathi Maiya provide her devout soul a place at her feet.”

Manish Sisodia, an AAP politician, also expressed his condolences for Sharda Sinha’s passing. He remarked, “Her voice and ‘immortal’ songs will remain forever, even though she won’t be with us on this Chhath Puja.”
Sisodia said that while people would miss her, they would experience a sense of intimacy from her music.

“Folk singer Sharda Sinha Ji is no longer among us,” Sisodia wrote on X. Her voice and the timeless tunes she sang will live on in the hearts of all her devotees, even if she won’t be with us for this Chhath Puja. The lines “Paar kariho hamaar argh ke beriya, hey chhathi maiya” would never fail to bring her to mind. Her songs give the Chhath event an individuality that will never fade. Sharda Ji’s voice will always make us feel connected to her, even though we shall miss her. Honor Sharda ji.

Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, sometimes referred to as “Bihar Kokila,” died of refractory shock brought on by “septicemia” at around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

Blood poisoning is known medically as septicaemia. When Sharda Sinha was diagnosed in 2018, she was fighting a blood cancer called multiple myeloma. She was put on a ventilator after her health worsened on Monday. At Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), she passed away.

A veteran of the music industry since the 1970s, Sinha, 72, is renowned for her heartfelt interpretations of folk music and has made significant contributions to Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Hindi folk music.

Sharda Sinha is regarded as a cultural ambassador of the area and is well-known for her contributions to Bihar’s traditional folk music and her famous Chhath geet.
