Presently, Ricky Ponting acquires the second spot. The former Australia captain scored 2555 runs in 29 Tests against India. Both Virat and Smith are 514 runs away from overtaking Ponting.Both batsmen were in the form of their lives in the 2014/15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and will to emulate that success. Batting with an average of 128.26, Smith piled up 769 runs. His tally included 4 centuries and 2 half-centuries. Virat slammed 692 runs at an average of 86.50. He hit 4 centuries and a half-century. He captained India in the first and fourth Test matches.
