Radhikka Madan on romancing Vijay Deverakonda: I just had to look into his expressive eyes (Exclusive)
Ages ago actress Radhikka Madan "somehow" met singer Jasleen Royal . The two have been friends ever since. Madan has been a fan of Royal since the latter participated in talent-based reality show India's Got Talent . The two collaborated together in a single titled Ni Jaana and years later they are coming together again for another single. Sahiba , which released yesterday, features Madan and actor Vijay Deverakonda .
Speaking about her connection with Royal, Madan's eyes light up as she recalls their initial encounter. "I've been following her journey since India's Got Talent. After moving to Mumbai, our paths crossed, and we instantly clicked," she shares, settling into her chair during our conversation.
What started as a casual music sharing session between friends transformed into a professional collaboration. "Jasleen had played this melody for me about a year and a half ago during its composition stage. It was one of those lucky days when she shares her work, and I immediately sensed its magical quality," Madan reminisces. Breaking away from the conventional casual approach, Madan appreciates how the project was handled with utmost professionalism. "They approached my manager formally, scheduled a proper meeting, and presented the concept like a film narrative rather than just a music video," she explains, adding that the narration left her teary-eyed.
Despite her inclination towards lighter roles, Madan found herself drawn to the depth of Sahiba. "It's funny how I always aim for light-hearted projects something comedic, but end up with intensely layered characters," she chuckles, noting the project's unexpected emotional depth.
When discussing her on-screen chemistry with co-star Deverakonda, Madan attributes it to pure professionalism. "When two artists are true to their craft and honest to the moment, magic happens naturally," she states matter-of-factly. "Vijay's expressive eyes made my job easier. I didn't have to work very hard to be very honest. I just had to look into his eyes and, and come to the moment. It was pretty effortless. The ambiance, with Jasleen's music playing in the background and Sudhanshu Saria (director)'s vision, created the perfect environment for storytelling through expressions alone."
Madan particularly emphasizes the unique challenge of conveying emotions without dialogues. "In films, you have words to express feelings. Here, we had to rely solely on our eyes to convey love and heartbreak. It was challenging but surprisingly effortless in the environment created for us," she signs off.
