Over the last few years the trend of OTT platforms has gained significant momentum. Often films that are released in theaters later make their way to various OTT platforms. Similarly a film featuring Kareena Kapoor as the lead hit the big screens on September 13 2024 and within just two months of its release it was also made available on the largest OTT giant Netflix. Although the movie did not perform well at the box office it has now become a hit on the OTT platform. If you’re wondering which film we’re talking about it’s The Buckingham Murders. This was Kareenas second release in 2024 following the success of The Crew. Besides Kareena the movie also stars Ranveer Brar Prabhleen Sandhu Ash Tandon and other notable actors in significant roles. The Buckingham Murders Plot The movies plot revolves around government detective Jaspreet Bhambra aka Jess (played by Kareena Kapoor). Devastated by her son’s murder Jess remains shattered despite the fact that the murderer was sentenced to death. Jess is later transferred and assigned to solve the murder case of another 10-year-old boy. The film’s core narrative unfolds as the case progresses revealing shocking twists and turns. The movie was directed by renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Despite the intriguing storyline the movie could not generate enough revenue at the box office. It failed to cross the Rs 20 crore mark. According to Bollywood Hungama the film earned only Rs 9.27 crore domestically and Rs 14.56 crore worldwide marking it a box office flop. However the movie is creating a buzz on OTT platforms. The Buckingham Murders has topped the platforms trending list even surpassing big titles like Devara: Part 1. Notably Jr. NTRs Devara earned Rs 420 crore worldwide but still couldnt draw the same attention on the OTT platform.
