Stephen King declared his intention to quit X, citing the platform’s increasing toxicity, during a public spat with the wealthiest man in the world. Elon Musk, 53, reportedly banned the 77-year-old “King of Horror,” according to sources. King sent a goodbye message on his account on Thursday.

King announced his departure from Twitter, saying he “tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic.”

End Wokeness reacted to his declaration by saying, “This isn’t an airport.” There’s no need to make your leaving public.

The Equedia Letter said, “It would be fantastic if it were an airport and he could announce his departure.”

Another user questioned if King would join the social networking site like X, asking, “BLUESKY @StephenKing?”

The Conflict between Elon Musk and Stephen King

After joking about the billionaire’s friendship with President-elect Donald Trump, the novelist, who recently joined the list of Hollywood celebs quitting, disputed rumors that Musk had banned him from the site.

I’ve heard a rumor that I phoned Trump’s new first lady, who happens to be the Musk guy. King responded on Wednesday, “I didn’t, but only because I didn’t think of it,” alluding to memes created by artificial intelligence that portrayed Musk as the First Lady of the United States.

Additionally, there is a rumor that Muskie banned me from Twitter. However, here I am,” King continued.

Unexpectedly, Musk wrote, “Hi Steve!” in response to his tweet.

Musk was portrayed as the “First Lady” because social media users’ responses to his participation in a Trump family portrait were mixed.

In the midst of rumors that King, a regular opponent of the creator of SpaceX and Tesla, had been kicked out of X for reportedly referring to Musk as “Trump’s First Lady,” the memes regarding Musk gained popularity.

The author, a Democrat, has often made fun of Musk for his backing of Trump, both before and during Trump’s win.

King previously posted a photo of his dog on X with the description, “Molly, also known as the Thing of Evil, thinks about biting the Musk-man.”

He said, “In the past month, the Musk-man has posted 3,000 times on Twitter.”
