Bristy Mukherjee secured the Women Rapid event at the Tata Steel Chess India Festival tournament with a perfect 7/7 score. Upon being called to receive her trophy, she first sought blessings by touching Viswanathan Anand’s feet before turning to Carlsen. The 20-year-old then touched the feet of the Norwegian, leaving him blushing and grinning widely.
Here’s the video of Bristy Mukherjee touching Magnus Carlsen’s feet:

Widely regarded as one of the greatest chess players, Carlsen secured the blitz title just days after claiming the rapid title. Carlsen staged a brilliant comeback against India’s Arjun Erigaisi in the penultimate round and capped off the tournament in style, defeating another Indian in Vidit Gujrathi in the final round to finish with three consecutive wins and a total of 13 points to claim the blitz crown.
This triumph marked Carlsen's second double victory in Kolkata, mirroring his success from 2019. Filipino-American Grandmaster Wesley So secured second place, while Arjun Erigaisi finished third, followed by R Praggnanandhaa in fourth and Vidit Gujrathi in fifth.
