The Pakistan Coast Guard opened fire on a Baloch truck transporting gasoline on Sunday, drawing attention to the increasing violence against the border residents, which was denounced by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee.

“A tragic incident occurred yesterday in Panwan Jewani, District Gwadar, where the paramilitary force Coast Guard opened fire directly on a vehicle carrying fuel,” the BYC said in a post on X. The car was reduced to ashes, but thankfully the driver lived.

In reaction to the incident, the residents of Panwan town barricaded the major route, the BYC stated. Since more than twenty-four hours have gone by and no concession has been given to the victims, the Coast Guard and the local government made false pledges to do so.

“It is a well-known fact that the people of Balochistan lack economic incentives and a basic economic structure,” the BYC said. The border commerce, which has always been a fundamental aspect of Baloch culture, is what they rely on most. With most people living below the poverty line, the area is enmeshed in poverty. Under such terrible conditions, when many people cannot afford even two meals a day, persecution and governmental crimes only make their misery worse. Border inhabitants are subjected to abuse and humiliation on a daily basis, which violates their basic rights to sustainability and income.

BYC noted in its post on X that “The Baloch people’s suffering has been made worse by the Pakistani forces’ continuous oppression.” These individuals have difficulty accessing enough food, health, and education facilities. The Pakistani troops perpetrate crimes on innocent people in such appalling conditions.

The Border Youth Council said that it “stands in solidarity with the border community and is in support of peaceful trade opportunities for every individual in Balochistan who is dependent on the border for basic amenities” .

The BYC further declared that “the genocidal policies manifesting as unlawful cruelty and barbarism must be brought to an end.”
