Vijay's political party, Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (TVK), on Monday categorically denied rumours of an alliance with the AIADMK, calling them "completely false (and) without evidence". In a detailed post on X, The TVK also declared its intention to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections without allies, stating that it was confident of securing a majority "with the help of the people of the country based on policies expressed (by Vijay)." The party's denial of the AIADMK alliance reports came after a major Tamil daily speculated on a potential deal."I would like to remind the people of Tamil Nadu to ignore such untrue and false news spread by some people in the guise of political commentators through the media and social media, based on the false opinions expressed by some people spontaneously," TVK General Secretary Anand posted on X.

Lack Of Criticism Fuels Rumours? The rumours gained traction after Vijay, during the launch of his party, criticised both the ruling DMK as well as the BJP, but refrained from saying anything against the AIADMK. The AIADMK's minimal criticism of TVK too fuelled further speculation that an alliance was in the offing, with reports claiming that the TVK had agreed to a deal for 60 seats, out of the state's 234 constituencies. At a high-profile rally in Villupuram last month, Vijay outlined his party's goals, accusing the DMK of hypocrisy in its welfare policies, saying the government "sells alcohol via government-controlled shops even as it gives money to women". He also criticised the BJP for its 'One Nation, One Election' proposal. Meanwhile, tensions between the DMK and TVK escalated after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin accused emerging political parties of attempting to undermine his party. Stalin, however, did not directly name Vijay or TVK. "We don’t have to respond to others... we don't want to waste time," Stalin declared.
