It came as a big surprise when Delhi Capitals (DC) did not retain Rishabh Pant ahead of the IPL auction. Pant being their captain and the most prolific performer will enter the auction as one of the hottest buys. He will be on the radar of many franchises, thus the Capitals' decision to let go of their ace player left many scratching their heads. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar on Star Sports reflected on Pant's DC exit and said maybe the two parties failed to agree on the retention price which led to Pant parting ways with Delhi Capitals."What I feel is Delhi Capitals would want Rishabh Pant back in their squad. Sometimes, when a player has to be retained, there are talks between the franchise and players over the fees, as expected. As some of the players who have been retained by their franchises, they have gone for more than what the No. 1 retention fee deduction would be. So clearly, I think may be there was some disagreement there. But, my feeling is Delhi would want Rishabh Pant back," Gavaskar had told Star Sports. The video of the same was posted by Star Sports on social media. Reacting to it, Pant revealed that his separation with DC was not because of the money matters. "My retention wasn’t about the money for sure that I can say," Rishabh Pant said in his reply to the post on X, formerly Twitter.
