Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is currently being held at Pottawattamie County Jail. Anmol's detention has prompted Indian law enforcement agencies to engage with their US counterparts in hopes of securing his deportation or extradition to face charges in India.A spokesperson for the US Embassy in India confirmed the discussions, stating, "U.S. Embassy officials met with Indian law enforcement partners to discuss this case and the Embassy remains in close contact with Indian officials."According to sources, Anmol Bishnoi was detained because certain discrepancies were found in his "travel documents". In May 2022, Anmol Bishnoi fled India on a fake passport which was in the name of Bhanu Pratap. The passport was made on 29th October 2021 and the expiry date of this passport is on 28th October 2031. Before Anmol Bishnoi's detention in California NIA had asked US authorities for Anmol Bishnoi 's extradition. He can even be deported because he is travelling on a fake passport. He has been lodged in California jail on "travel documents" discrepancies not for crimes in India, according to sources.

In the latter incident, a Facebook account claiming to be linked to Bishnoi took responsibility for the attack, which occurred outside Khan's house. Indian authorities have traced Bishnoi's whereabouts to California, where he was located recently.Additionally, Anmol Bishnoi is a key suspect in the murder of singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala. Following Moosewala's killing, Bishnoi is believed to have fled India using a fake passport. He was reportedly located in Azerbaijan a year ago, but managed to evade capture. His associate, Sachin Thapan, was extradited from Azerbaijan for his role in the murder case.The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also been involved, offering a reward of ₹10 lakh for any information that could lead to Anmol Bishnoi's arrest. Bishnoi has been charged in two NIA cases registered in 2022. Mumbai's Crime Branch, which has been investigating the case, recently informed a special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court of its intent to pursue extradition proceedings against him.According to investigations by the Mumbai Crime Branch, after the murder of Siddique, Bishnoi's gang allegedly targeted a prominent political leader in Pune.
