India has advanced significantly in terms of innovation and technology, moving up 11 spots from the previous year to the 49th position in the Network Readiness Index 2024 (NRI 2024).

In a social media post on Saturday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the Index, which is run by the Portulans Institute in Washington, DC, assesses how well nations employ technology to improve government, public involvement, and overall effect.

According to it, “India has improved its position by eleven slots and is now placed at 49th rank as per the Network Readiness Index 2024 (NRI 2024) published by Portulans Institute, an independent non-profit research and educational institute based in Washington, DC, on technology, citizens, governance and impact.”

According to the government, India’s ranking has risen by 11 spots; in 2023, it was rated 60th with a score of 49.93. In addition to rising in the rankings this year, the nation’s total score rose to 53.63, demonstrating its continuous efforts to advance research, technology, and digital infrastructure.

The government claims that this rise has been made possible by India’s developments in areas like the internet, mobile networks, and artificial intelligence. The nation is using these technologies to improve the quality of life for its residents in addition to employing them for international study.

According to the ministry, “India is not only moving ahead with technology but also expanding the scope of new research in the field of artificial intelligence, mobile networks, and broadband at the global level and also using them for promoting the ease of living.”

India’s rising prominence as a worldwide leader in technology adoption and innovation is highlighted by the Network Readiness Index.

This achievement is largely attributable to government efforts to support research and development and fortify digital infrastructure.

India’s higher position demonstrates technical improvement and lays a solid basis for future developments in innovation and digital transformation in the nation.
