The body of a child was found in a suitcase near Ganganahar in Meerut, which was identified as Junaid who had gone missing two years ago. The child was strangulated to death.
Meerut. The body of eight-year-old Junaid, who went missing from the Tarapuri area of Lisadi Gate two years ago, was found in the bushes on the Ganganahar track in the Niwari area. The body was in a red suitcase and he was strangulated to death. Police shared pictures on social media to identify the body. Late on Sunday night, Lisadi Gate police station showed the pictures of the body to Junaid's relatives, after which they identified the body.
In July 2022, Junaid, son of Riyazuddin, a resident of Tarapuri, Lisadi Gate, left home to play and did not return. The family had lodged a missing person report at Lisadi Gate police station. When no trace of Junaid was found despite a lot of searching, the case was handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU).
On 17 December, a red suitcase was lying in the bushes on the Ganganahar track in the Niwari area, which was being dragged by dogs. On the information of the villagers, the police opened the suitcase and found the body of a child in it. When the body could not be identified, the police shared pictures on social media. Meanwhile, due to negligence, Ghaziabad Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra suspended Niwari police station in-charge Gajendra Singh Bhati.
Seeing the pictures on social media, some people from Lisadi Gate informed Junaid's family. After this, the Niwari police station showed the photos to Junaid's relatives, which helped in identifying the body. Police said that the body was buried two days ago.
