In 2022, 4 Indians, including two children, died due to cold on the border of America and Canada. While investigating this matter, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made a big revelation. ED told that not just one or two, but 262 people from Canadian colleges are associated with human trafficking gang in India and are committing such serious crimes. These people target innocent people who want to settle abroad.
ED has said that a large-scale conspiracy is being hatched to send people from India to Canada and America. People involved in human trafficking look for such targets and lure them into the quagmire by giving them dreams of a foreign country. The strings of this serious crime are linked to Canada. There are 262 colleges in Canada which are linked to human trafficking happening on a large scale in India. ED started its investigation when a Gujarati family died due to cold on the international border.
On February 19, 2022, Gujarat native Jagdish Patel, his wife Vaishali, 11-year-old daughter Vihangi, 3-year-old son Dharmik were crossing the US border from Canada to Minnesota when they froze to death. The tragic death attracted the attention of the international media. American investigative agencies had contacted India in the case of death due to freezing. When the family was identified, all were residents of Gujarat.
ED started investigating this syndicate when India came to know about the case of death of 4 Gujaratis due to freezing of cold. The investigation found that human smugglers had left the family to cross the border in the freezing cold. He did not even have enough luggage and had to walk for several kilometers. Because of which the entire family froze.
Taking action in this case, ED registered a case of money laundering and on 10 and 19 December, raids were conducted at 8 locations including Nagpur, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Vadodara. The bank accounts of the accused were frozen. During this time it was revealed that 262 colleges were helping the gangs present in India in human trafficking. Rs 19 lakh, many suspicious documents and different types of digital devices have been recovered from the accused.
