Five Chinese military planes and five Chinese navy boats were reported to have operated on Friday by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND).

The output is:Up until six in the morning (local time) on Friday, the planes and ships were seen moving over Taiwan. The five PLA planes all flew into the northern and southern Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ) of Taiwan.
MND shared a post on X that said, “Up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today, 5 PLA aircraft and 5 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected.”

Five of the planes entered Taiwan’s northern and southern ADIZ after crossing the median line. We have kept an eye on the issue and taken appropriate action,” the tweet said.

MND said on Thursday that five PLAN ships were operating in the Taiwan area.

Up until six in the morning (UTC+8) today, five PLAN boats were seen cruising the Taiwan area. #ROCArmedForce has kept an eye on the situation and taken appropriate action. The Ministry of National Defense had said in a post on X that “no PLA aircraft operating around Taiwan were detected, so an illustration of the flight path isn’t provided.”

Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi, meanwhile, voiced concerns about the South China Sea situation and others during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday. He also said that Japan is keeping a close eye on pertinent developments, including the recent military actions, and reaffirmed how crucial peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait are for the international community, including Japan.

China’s behavior against Taiwan has also been criticized by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who recently said that “China is bullying Taiwan and pursuing access to critical infrastructure in ways that could cripple societies.”
“We must be realistic about China’s aspirations,” he said. China is rapidly expanding its military, including its nuclear arsenal, without any restrictions or transparency. By 2030, China is predicted to acquire more than 1,000 nuclear weapons, up from 200 in 2020. Its spending on space launches is soaring. China is threatening to destroy our society by pressuring Taiwan and gaining access to our vital infrastructure.

With Taiwanese leaders consistently denouncing the rise in Chinese military actions as a direct danger to the island’s sovereignty and regional peace, the Taiwan Strait continues to be a focal point of elevated tensions. But China, which views Taiwan as a part of its territory, is adamant on reunification in the long run, even if it means using force.
