On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces said they had executed terrorists from Islamic Jihad who were masquerading as journalists.
According to the IDF, a list of Islamic Jihad operatives collected during operations in Gaza was a crucial source.

“With the guidance of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF carried out a precise strike on an Islamic Jihad terrorist cell inside of a vehicle in the area of Nuseirat overnight,” the IDF said in a post on X. The attack killed many terrorists affiliated with Islamic Jihad. These people were identified as Islamic Jihad agents masquerading as journalists by intelligence from many sources. A list of Islamic Jihad operatives the IDF found while conducting operations in Gaza was one important source. Four of the people who were killed were specifically named on this list as belonging to the terrorist group Islamic Jihad.

Five journalists were murdered in an Israeli attack that struck their car in Gaza a day earlier, CNN said, citing a hospital and their news outlet statement.

The hospital claims that the car, which belonged to Al-Quds Today Television, was struck as it was parked outside Al-Awda Hospital. The Gaza-based television network has ties to the Palestine Islamic Jihad organization.

According to other reporters on the scene, Mohammed Al-Lada’a, Ibrahim Al-Sheikh Ali, Fadi Hassouna, Ayman Al-Jadi, and Faisal Abu Al-Qumsan were all asleep in the car when the strike occurred.

The trucks were seen burning in the aftermath, and the enormous alphabets “TV” and “PRESS” were visible on the rear doors. According to CNN, another footage revealed that it was entirely engulfed in flames.
The incident was denounced by Al-Quds Today Television, which further said that the five individuals were slain “while performing their journalistic and humanitarian duty.”

Israel’s military said in a statement that it had struck a “Islamic Jihad terrorist cell inside in the area of Nuseirat.” But it offered no evidence to support its claims.

At least 141 journalists and media professionals have been murdered in Gaza, Israel, the West Bank, and Lebanon since October 7 of last year, according to the US-based non-profit Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), “making it the deadliest period for journalists since CPJ began gathering data in 1992.”
