In 2024 Pushpa 2 starring Allu Arjun has been the talk of the town setting new records at the box office and captivating audiences worldwide. Released on December 5 the film made an explosive impact from day one and the buzz continues to stay strong. With its intense action and gripping narrative Pushpa 2 has been widely celebrated and it quickly became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. According to reports Pushpa 2 has earned an impressive Rs 1700 crore worldwide placing it firmly at the top of the 2024 earnings chart.
Not Pushpa 2 Kalki 2898 AD THIS is Indias profitable film
Following closely is Prabhas film Kalki which has grossed around Rs 1100-1200 crore securing the second position. However while Pushpa 2 takes the lead in terms of total box office collection it’s Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 that has outshone the big-budget blockbuster in a surprising aspect: profitability.
Stree 2 which has grossed approximately Rs 874 crore globally is third in the total earnings list. However it takes the crown to be the most profitable film of 2024. The reason? Stree 2 was produced on a budget of just Rs 60 crore whereas Pushpa 2 had an estimated budget ranging from Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore. This means that Stree 2 earned a staggering ten times its production cost making it a far more profitable venture than Pushpa 2.
Another notable film in this list is Munjya a horror comedy made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. Despite its modest production cost it grossed Rs 132.13 crore at the box office marking a solid success.
Both Stree 2 and Munjya fall under the horror-comedy genre and have been well-received by audiences with Stree 2 in particular having a highly successful music album. Its songs continue to be widely popular adding to the films overall success. These films highlight how profitability isnt just about high box office collections but also about smart budgeting and audience engagement
