There are some actors in our film industry who reach incredible heights early in their careers only to see their golden time fade away after a few years. While they might have once ruled the box office and won the audience’s imagination time often brings new faces trends and changes that make their earlier success seem like a distant memory. Today we are going to talk about one such superstar who experienced this very rise and fall – Rajesh Khanna. The Charm Of Rajesh Khanna Rajesh Khanna who made his debut with the film Aakhri Khat in 1966 quickly became a beloved actor in the industry. However it was with his iconic performance in Aradhana (1969) that he truly transitioned into the cinemas first superstar. His incredible charm intense performances and unique on-screen presence won the hearts of millions and he became the face of romance in the 1970s. For a few years it seemed like no one could match his stardom as he delivered hit after hit. He made the world record of having 17 successive super-hits in 3 years from 1969 to 1971 including Doli Bandhan Ittefaq Do Raaste Khamoshi Safar The Train Kati Patang Sachaa Jhutha Aan Milo Sajna Mehboob Ki Mehendi Choti Bahu Anand Andaz Maryada and Haathi Mere Saathi. Rajesh Khannas Flop Movies However as is often the case in the film industry even the brightest stars eventually face a decline and Rajesh Khanna’s career was no exception. Despite his early success the later years of his career saw a drastic change and his golden period came to an unexpected end. The actors run of success ended with the box-office failure of Badnam Farishte in 1971. Within two years seven of his films failed to perform at the box office marking a dramatic downturn in his career. These films were Mehbooba Bundle Baaz Anurodh Tyaag Chhaila Babu Karma and Chalta Purja. These back-to-back flops sent the actor into depression. According to Yasir Usmanis book The Untold Story Of India’s Superstar the actor even contemplated suicide during this dark phase. Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18 2012 after battling cancer for many years.
