'You Take Blankets From Us...': A Big Self Goal By 3-Month-Old Politician Prashant Kishor?
Political Strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishore, the founder of Jan Suraj Party founder, had a heated exchange with protesting Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants on Sunday night in Patna, after he was accused of being absent during police action against the protesters. "You take blankets from us and then show us attitude," the Jan Suraj Party founder reportedly told students, further escalating the situation. Prashant Kishor's comments is seen as a self-goal for the former political consultant has been laying the groundwork for his political outfit in Bihar.Police used water cannons and charged protesters with batons to disperse as they attempted to march towards the chief minister’s residence in the evening. Some of the protesters reportedly tried to jump over barricades while marching from Gandhi Maidan towards JP Golumber, police officials said. The aspirants claimed that Kishor was "absent" during the police action against them.Upon his arrival, Kishor was greeted with "Prashant Kishor, go back" chants, leading to a heated argument with student leaders. The situation escalated further when he remarked, "You take blankets from us and then show us attitude," according to India Today. The protesters, already upset about the police action, were seen asking, “Where was Prashant Kishor during the lathicharge?”
"The protesters gathered at Gandhi Maidan despite the administration's warning that any demonstration there would be considered unauthorised. The district police has registered an FIR against 21 known persons, including Prashant Kishore, his party president Manoj Bharti, city-based tutor Ramanshu Mishra and 600-700 unknown persons for organising a gathering of students at Gandhi Maidan even after denial of permission by the authorities", Patna District Magistrate (DM) Chandrasekhar Singh told PTI.The candidates, who are protesting for more than a week, are seeking cancellation of the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), 2024, under the BPSC over allegations of question paper leak."The district administration has offered the protesting aspirants to give a list of the representatives (all of them examinees) so that we can facilitate their meeting with the BPSC authorities over the issue," the DM said."They can apprise the commission’s officials of their grievances in the meeting. The district administration also assures the protesting aspirants that the commission would take appropriate decisions or a stand within a reasonable time," Singh said. The commission is an independent body and it is free to make decisions on its own, he said. The BPSC had decided to cancel the preliminary examination held at Bapu Pariksha Parisar centre only due to disruption created by a group of unruly aspirants. The re-examination will be held on January 4 at some other centre in the city. The protestors have been sitting on dharna at Gardani Bagh for several days. They contend that cancellation should be ordered across the board since re-examination for just one centre would go against the principle of "level playing field".Prashant Kishor, who is looking to create a new force in Bihar politics, has announced plans to test waters for 2025 bypolls in the state. The party plans to contest four assembly seats in central-south region, where RJD-led grand alliance fared well in Lok Sabha elections. With inputs from PTI
