Squid Game season 2 has garnered a lot of attention since its release on December 26, 2024. While some praised the new season with its new characters and plotlines, others were not happy with the way it ended. Many were also disappointed by the makers’ decision to include a trans character in Squid Game 2, played by Park Sung-hoon.
Despite all this, fans have been eagerly waiting for details of season 3 since both seasons were shot together. Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game’s director, writer and creator had earlier revealed that he was expecting season 3 to be released in the summer or fall of 2025. However, Netflix might have accidentally revealed the release date for Squid Game Season 3.

A teaser video uploaded to the streaming platform’s YouTube channel showed Young-hee, the girl robot, being transported to a new location where she meets a new robot, Chul-soo. This was similar to the post-credits scene of season 2. The video was titled ‘Squid Game Season 3 2025 Release’ and its description revealed the release date — June 27, 2025.
The video was immediately deleted by the channel, but by then screenshots had started floating on social media.

There have also been rumours that Leonardo DiCaprio would be making a special appearance in the next season. However, that’s probably what it was — a rumour.
According to a Netflix representative, “The rumours are completely false. Reports of Leonardo DiCaprio’s involvement in Squid Game Season 3 are entirely unfounded.”
There has been no official confirmation about the Squid Game season 3 release date from Netflix yet. So far, they’ve only announced that Young-hee and Chul-soo will be returning for a fresh season in 2025.
