What Surprises The Most?One of the funniest highlights of the year was that 4,940 users searched for “girlfriend” and 40 for “dulhan” (bride) on the platforms. It seems some people were hoping to spice up their food orders in a unique way! Regional Ordering HabitsThe report also shared insights into the regions where people ordered the most. Delhi-NCR topped the list, placing a massive 12.4 crore orders. In comparison, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana together ordered 10.5 crore times. Bengaluru placed more orders than Mumbai, with a difference of 30 lakh orders. Most Popular Dishes And BeveragesBiryani was the undisputed king of food in 2024, with over 9 crore orders. That’s an average of 3 orders every second, all day long! Pizza followed in second place, with 5.8 crore orders, and Zomato pointed out that if all the pizzas ordered in 2024 were placed end to end, they would stretch all the way from Mumbai to New York City!Tea and coffee were also favorites, with 77.7 lakh tea orders and 74.3 lakh coffee orders. Interestingly, Delhi ordered 25 times more Gol Gappe (pani puri) than Mumbai ordered Pani Puris. Special Orders And Fun FactsIn an amusing twist, the platform recorded the most cake orders on a non-festive day, September 22. A unique order was made to an address saved as “Ambani wedding,” and the highest order volume came on May 12, with 34.8 lakh orders. On the other hand, January 29 saw the lowest order volume of 16.8 lakh.

Food On TrainsZomato’s partnership with IRCTC brought food delivery to trains, allowing passengers to enjoy meals when their train stops at designated stations. One user went above and beyond, placing an order for 120 Manchurian combos to feed an entire train bogey! Kanpur Central station saw the most orders, with 86,753 orders placed throughout the year. Zomato Gold PerksZomato Gold users saved a staggering Rs 2,24,591 in delivery and dining costs thanks to their membership. One customer in particular explored 1,377 different restaurants in 2024, making the most of the platform’s variety.
