Huge Chaos At Patna's Gandhi Maidan: Prashant Kishor Detained, Supporters Clash With Police

Patna: The Gandhi Maidan went into chaos as a police team reached there to detail Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor, who has been protesting at the site with the BPSC aspirants to cancel the December 13 exams. Kishor sat on an indefinite hunger strike seeking action against the alleged Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam paper leak.In the early hours of Monday, high drama took place at the site when a team of Bihar police reached there and detained Kishor. The police have also vacated the area where the political strategist-turned-politician was protesting. A clash broke out between Kishor's supporters and police after his detention and a huge police deployment has been made in the area where students have been protesting for days.In the visuals, police personnel could be seen pulling Kishor as he tried to stay on the ground amid shouting by the students. The police took him in a vehicle while Kishor waved at protesters. Patna police also conducted the checking of the vehicles leaving from the Gandhi Maidan, a report in ANI stated. Prashant Kishor began his fast-unto-death on January 2 in support of the BPSC aspirants who have been seeking a re-examination alleging a paper leak. Notably, on Sunday (Jan 5), a re-test was held for some select students. Kishor had said that this re-test meant the Commission admitted to irregularities in the examinations.

BPSC Row to Reach HC?Jan Surraj founder Kishor said that his party would file a petition in the High Court on January 7 over BPSC irregularities. "It is not a matter of decision for us whether we will continue this (protest) or not. We will continue doing what we are doing now, there will be no change in it...We (Jan Suraaj Party) will file a petition in the High Court on the 7th," he added, quoted ANI. Earlier on Sunday, he sat down with protesting students and also urged the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav to lead the protest as he is a "tall" leader and also the Leader of Opposition (LoP).
