He has been a part of Bollywood regional American British and Pakistani films. The late actor is also remembered for his controversies that has been written in his infamous autobiography revealing his sexual relationship with his maid as 14-year-old! Yes its true. The renowned actor is known for iconic films like Aakrosh Gandhi Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro Mirch Masala Chachi 420 and Awara Paagal Deewana had his biography released in 2009. Written by his wife the book sparked controversy for revealing intimate details about his life. One particular revelation that made headlines was about his alleged relationships with two housemaids one of whom was 55. We are talking about late actor Om Puri. In his biopic Om Puri: Unlikely Hero by his wife Nandita Puri penned his life. The actor reportedly expressed his disappointment and disagreement with his wife for disclosing such personal aspects of his life. Addressing the controversy Om reportedly commented Aap (referring to the audience) mujhe bataiye esme 14 saal ke bache ka kasoor tha ki 55 saal ki aurat ka? (You tell me was it the fault of a 14-year-old boy or that of a 55-year-old woman?) Om Puri came from an underprivileged background. When he was six years old his father who was a railway employee was put behind bars on allegations of theft of cement. This resulted in their family becoming homeless. To make ends meet Puris brother Ved Prakash Puri worked as a coolie (railway porter) and Puri worked in a local tea shop did odd jobs and collected coal from nearby railways tracks to support his family. He and his brothers children were later brought up by a maid servant. Om Puri and Nandita Puris marriage and divorce Om Puri and Nandita Puri tied the knot in 1993 but separated in 2013. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan Nandita shared whether Om Puri was upset about his personal life being in the spotlight. She clarified that he wasn’t angry with her but felt hurt that this incident overshadowed the focus on his career childhood and struggles during the biography’s release. Nandita also revealed that Om was open to the incident being shared even after being reminded that they had a son. He believed their son deserved to know the truth. On 6 January 2017 he died at the age of 66 after having a heart attack at his residence in Andheri Mumbai.
