Shakarkandi Gulab Jamun: The pleasure of eating sweet potatoes in winter is different. If you want to make something special and sweet from sweet potatoes, then the recipe of sweet potato gulab jamun can be a great option. Apart from being tasty, it is also healthy, because no flour is used in it and it is full of nutrition of sweet potato. So let us know how to make it.

Material

  • Sweet potatoes – 2-3 medium sized (boiled)
  • Any powder for making Gulab Jamun (like flour or gram flour) – 2-3 tbsp
  • Baking powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Ghee – for frying
  • Sugar – 1 cup (for syrup)
  • Water – 1 cup (for syrup)
  • Cardamom powder – 1 pinch
  • Saffron (optional) – a few strands (for flavor and color)

Recipe (Shakarkandi Gulab Jamun)

1- First of all, boil the sweet potato, peel it and mash it. Make sure that the sweet potatoes are mashed well, so that there are no lumps in the gulab jamun flour.

2-Now add boiled sweet potatoes, baking powder and 2-3 tablespoons of powder (like flour or gram flour) in a vessel and mix well. The dough should be soft and smooth. If needed, you can add a little water.

3-Make small balls from this mixture. Make them well in round shape so that there is no problem in frying.

4- Prepare syrup by adding water and sugar in a pan. Add cardamom powder and saffron in it. Cook the syrup till it becomes one thread thick.

5-Heat ghee in a pan and add sweet potato balls and fry on low flame till they become golden and crisp.

6-Put the fried gulab jamuns in the syrup and let them soak in the syrup for a few minutes. Now your sweet potato gulab jamuns are ready. Serve them hot and let everyone enjoy tasting them.
