New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also found itself amidst a controversy after its proposal of a hybrid model for hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy. There were even proposals at one stage to cancel the event. However the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not change its stand over not allowing the Indian players to go to Pakistan for the tournament due to security reasons. But no solid assurance was forthcoming from Pakistan regarding the above security issues.
PCB supremo Mohsin Naqvi did make some tall claims about how the board was trying its very best to transform the stadiums situated in Lahore Karachi and Rawalpindi into world class facilities. But with only over a month to go for the Champions Trophy the stadiums designated to host the Champions Trophy matches look far from ready and the situation is worrisome.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) being the host of the 2025 Champions Trophy is supposed to hand over all stadiums to the International Cricket Council (ICC) by February 12 2025. However Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore whose construction started in August 2024 was supposed to be completed by December 31. As of now the stadium is still very far from being ready and is more like a construction site.

Pakistans claims of stadiums condition having turned the tide a video did the opposite trick by appearing and showing PCB supremo Mohsin Naqvi visiting Gaddafi Stadium. It highlighted the poor conditions of the stadium much contrary to being anywhere near prepared to hold the much-famed Champions Trophy.
The Indian team is now eyeing the Champions Trophy after their T20 World Cup triumph in June last year. All of Indias matches in the tournament will be played in Dubai with the first semi-final also scheduled there. If India reaches the finals the decisive match will also be held in Dubai.
