Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh engaged in a standoff with Delhi police officers stationed outside the chief minister’s home on Wednesday as the dispute over his residence became more heated.
Earlier today, the AAP leaders marched to the Delhi chief minister’s home to deny the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) assertions. The BJP had referred to the Chief Minister’s mansion as “Sheesh Mahal” and said that it included a golden commode and swimming pools.
After being refused access by the police, Delhi Ministers Singh and Bharadwaj sat on a “dharna” outside the chief minister’s home. Additionally, they argued angrily with the police officers stationed outside the bungalow.
“New images and videos from the BJP used to be sent every day. We arrived here today together with every member of the media. The BJP is now fleeing. There is now a three-layer barricading. Here, they have also deployed more DCP and installed water cannons. To prevent the journalists from entering, this has been transformed into a border.
Tell us the location of the pub and swimming pool. The CM’s home was constructed for Rs 33 crores, according to the BJP. The construction of the PM home is reportedly costing Rs 2700 crores. Both the PM and CM homes will be shown. “Allow the public to witness both,” said AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Bharadwaj had earlier accused the BJP of straying from the matter, claiming that they were afraid of having to display Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home as well since both the CM and PM’s homes were built with public funds.
“Both the CM home and the PM residence were built using government funds under COVID. Everyone should be able to see both homes via the media. Let’s check to see whether the CM mansion has a swimming pool and a bar, as the BJP said. Now that they may have to display the PM’s home as well, the BJP is retreating. The AAP leader said, “We are now heading to the CM residence.”
This follows Sanjay Singh’s Tuesday challenge to the BJP to send a delegation and members of the media to the chief minister’s home.
The BJP’s Delhi branch uploaded a video saying it was the Delhi CM’s home when the AAP leadership and Delhi Police were engaged in a standoff.
“The public is now aware of the shady inner workings of Kejriwal’s worthless and corrupt glass palace. Delhi residents are aware of this massive scam. The Delhi BJP said on X that the people has realized that this imposter, who seemed to be an ordinary person, is only a playboy who relishes the delights of power.
“When he first entered politics, Kejriwal, who gained power via deceit and lying, said that he would live in a two-room cottage rather than a mansion. Affidavits had been delivered by him. As soon as he took control, the same great scammer constructed Sheeshmahal, a nest of wealth. That too at a time when Delhi was fighting for its life because of a pandemic like Corona,” the Delhi BJP said.
As part of their protest against the BJP’s assertions, the AAP MLAs also want to march to the PM’s residence.
