Formula One chiefs have confirmed a shake-up of the iconic , with the race at Spa-Francorchamps set to be rotated off the calendar in 2028 and 2030.

The move is part of a strategy to make way for fresh circuits, with Thailand, Argentina, Rwanda, and a potential second event in Saudi Arabia all jostling for inclusion.

Despite the current contract expiring this year, F1 bosses are keen to diversify the line-up, which could also affect the future of the Italian Grand Prix at Imola and the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya.

Madrid is poised to host a new street race from next year, while the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort is slated to drop off after the current season.

Last year saw a record 24 races, but despite regulations allowing up to 25, there's no appetite from F1 to exceed the existing tally.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali remarked: "The Belgian Grand Prix was one of the races that made up our maiden championship in 1950, so as we kick off our 75th anniversary year it is fitting that we can share the news of this important extension.

"Spa-Francorchamps is rightly lauded by drivers and fans alike as one of the finest race tracks in the world and it has played host to some incredible moments over its many seasons in Formula One.

"In recent years it has undergone significant work to improve the facility and overall fan experience, and I would like to pay tribute to the promoter and the Government of Wallonia for their dedication and passionate support for Formula One in Belgium."

The new season is set to kick off with engines roaring into action on March 16 in Melbourne.
