Prayagraj-Ayodhya Expressway: Due to the surge in religious tourism in Uttar Pradesh, permission has been granted to construct a six-lane Greenfield Access Control Expressway between Prayagraj and Ayodhya. This would allow direct access to two of the state’s most important holy towns. This six-lane high-tech highway would directly assist the residents of Ayodhya, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to construct a 6-lane expressway on the left side of the Ayodhya-Prayagraj route in place of the current 4-lane one. For its development, a budget of Rs 5,000 crore has been allocated. Compensation for the land that will be purchased from farmers is also included in this budget.
Construction of the Prayagraj-Ayodhya Expressway
The existing route will run parallel to the new highway. There are now two lanes on the route from Ayodhya to Pratapgarh and four lanes on the road from Pratapgarh to Prayagraj.
Expressway Prayagraj-Ayodhya To Reduce Travel Time
In order to reduce the four-hour travel time between Ayodhya and Prayagraj to 2.5–3 hours, the 90 km section is crucial. At the moment, traveling 167 kilometers takes around 4 hours.
Details of the Prayagraj-Ayodhya Expressway
38 meters will be the Prayagraj-Ayodhya Expressway’s width. It will have a service road, two-meter folder, and a carriageway that is 15–15 meters long. To prevent livestock from entering, restricted iron girders will be erected on both sides of the road.
In addition, small cars, tractors, and three-wheelers will not be permitted on it. There will be two 45–45 km stages of the expressway’s construction. The first phase would run from Katka to Gonde hamlet Sonawaan, while the second phase will go from Katka to 84 Kos Parikrama Sthal Ayodhya Bharat Kund Parikrama Marg.
On the Prayagraj-Ayodhya Expressway route, approximately six ROBs and bridges will be built. These include an overbridge on the Lucknow-Varanasi rail section, a six-lane flyover at the Purvanchal Expressway crossing that is 18 meters high, six lanes on the Gomti river, and bridge construction at numerous other locations.
Many visitors from India and other countries go to the holy and spiritual towns of Ayodhya and Prayagraj for darshan. This new highway will greatly assist travelers in getting to both places of worship in a single day in such a scenario.
