Gautam Adani Indias second-richest man with a net worth of $57 billion (as per Forbes) continues to expand his business footprint across India. On Sunday the billionaire announced a massive Rs 65000 crore investment in energy and cement projects in Chhattisgarh marking a significant move outside his usual focus states like Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Adani’s Boost To Chhattisgarhs Power Sector
This investment will significantly enhance Chhattisgarh’s power generation capacity by an additional 6120 MW solidifying the state’s position as a key energy hub. The expansion is expected to drive economic growth and create substantial employment opportunities in the region.
Adani Meets Chhattisgarh Leadership
The announcement followed a meeting between Adani and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the latter’s official residence in Raipur. A statement from the state’s public relations department confirmed the discussions which revolved around Adani Groups plans to bolster the state’s energy and cement sectors.

Gautam Adani’s Strategic Move
This Rs 65000 crore investment highlights Adani’s commitment to diversifying his group’s operations across India. By focusing on states like Chhattisgarh Adani is leveraging untapped potential in energy and infrastructure to further strengthen his conglomerates position in these sectors.
During the meeting Adani announced a planned investment of Rs 60000 crore to expand the groups power plants in Raipur Korba and Raigarh in the state. This expansion will enhance Chhattisgarhs total power generation capacity by an additional 6120 MW the statement said.
Additionally the Adani Group chairman also committed Rs 5000 crore for the development and expansion of the groups cement plants in the state it said.
On the advice of the CM Adani also assured the state government of a Rs 10000 crore impetus over the next four years to support initiatives in education healthcare skill development and tourism under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and beyond from the Adani Group the statement said.
The meeting also explored potential collaborations in manufacturing defence-related equipment and establishing data centres as well as a Global Capability Centre in Chhattisgarh it said.
