A film is going to be made on the Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum case fought in the Supreme Court, in which Yami Gautam is going to play the role of 62 year old Muslim woman Shah Bano Begum. To fit into this role, Yami has already started preparations. This film will be completely based on Shah Bano case.
Shah Bano had filed a petition for maintenance under Section 125 in the Supreme Court after triple talaq from her husband Mohammad Ahmed Khan. Shah Bano's husband, citing Muslim personal law, had said that maintenance is given only during Iddat. This legal battle lasted for seven years and in April 1985, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Shah Bano. This incident is important in the legal and social history of India.
Based on the Shah Bano case, this film will be produced by Junglee Pictures together with Vishal Gurnani and Juhi Parekh Mehta of Insomnia Media. This project is going to be directed by Suparn Verma who has made 'Family Man Season 2' and is known for his steady direction. Yami Gautam seems very happy to play such an iconic character. Apart from this, she also has a romantic drama film 'Dhoom Dham' with Prateek Gandhi. In which she will be seen tickling people.
