football.london understands , who has been with the club with the summer of 2023, has plenty of admirers abroad and Chelsea are open to selling the 26-year-old in the January transfer window. That, as well as the injuries, have forced the Blues into action this month with Chalobah now returning.

Chelsea have been monitoring Chalobah's progress at Selhurst Park this season, with the Cobham graduate featuring 14 times for the south Londoners in all competitions. Having been at the club, albeit with a few loan spells, since Under-9 level, Chalobah will not require time to settle into a new climate and culture like a new signing would.

The club have a good relationship with Chalobah, who actually visited the Chelsea dressing room earlier this month following the Blues' 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. The defender greeted teammates, staff members and executives, football.london understands, at Selhurst Park.

It is understood Chalobah wants to come back to Chelsea, despite Oliver Glasner stating earlier in the week that the defender wished to stay at Palace. There had been positive talks taking place over the past 24 hours withand the sporting directors, and they have now reached the decision to recall the defender.

Paul Winstanley, one of the club's co-sporting directors, reached out to Chalobah via a phone call to talk to him about coming back to Stamford Bridge, football.london understands. However, if Chalobah does want to leave the club in the summer, then Chelsea will not stand in his way and will sanction a sale.

Chelsea are next in action against Wolves on Monday night as the Blues look to end their five-match winless run in the Premier League. Chalobah, all being well and good, could well be in the squad to take on Vitor Pereira's men.
