Fans of Channel 5's The Good Ship Murder appeared to be one step ahead, as they appeared to spot the bombshell twist before it aired.

On Friday's (Janaury 17) show, the cruise ship headed to Gran Canaria where another untimely death took place.

But before the drama unfolded on the popular detective programme, it was time for celebrations when cruise ship attendee Melanie announced she was five weeks pregnant.

With her partner Dev revealing that a baby on the way meant the world to him, he also shared with a member of staff that he and Melanie had been struggling to conceive for many years.

Although he was doubtful, Dev was happy with the news but fans watching at home already suspected that Dev was not the father of the baby and believed the baby could belong to his criminal accomplice Mickey, who was causing havoc on the ship.

Heading over to X, one viewer said: "I don't think Dev is the father. Probably Mickey." When the news that Mickey was indeed the father, another viewer chimed in and said: "Knew that baby wasn't his!" Referring to Mickey, a third viewer added: "Knew I didn't trust him."

When crew members Kate (Catherine Tyldesley) and Jack (Shayne Ward) wanted to find out why Melanie lied about the father of her child, she explained that although she knew it was a bad idea, she didn't intend for Dev to find out.

But as well as the baby drama, the murder of Dev was also lingering.

As the cruise ship arrived at Gran Canaria for a day trip, Dev fell to his death, but viewers had to wait and see if he was deliberately pushed.

Later on in the show, it was revealed that Mickey's girlfriend pushed Dev as they squabbled about his domestic baby drama and money.

But with all the twists and turns, fans couldn't get enough, with one writing: "Obsessed with #TheGoodShipMurder, a Channel 5 drama (thought up by the boss of Channel 5), where a murder takes place on a boat, Shayne Ward investigates it and then he sings at the end."

The Good Ship Murder airs Friday at 9pm on Channel 5
