According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Jio added 12.1 lakh wireless subscribers in November 2024 bringing its total user base to an impressive 46.12 crore. This resurgence reinforces Jios position as Indias largest telecom operator.
Airtel Vodafone BSNL Subscriber Losses
While Jio experienced growth its competitors struggled to retain their user base. Sunil Mittals Bharti Airtel saw its mobile subscriber count drop by 11.4 lakh reducing its total user base to 38.4 crore. Similarly Vodafone Idea continued to face challenges losing 15 lakh users and ending the month with 20.8 crore subscribers.
Even Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) which had previously gained subscribers in recent months reported a decline. BSNLs wireless subscriber base fell by 3.4 lakh in November leaving it with 9.20 crore users. The state-owned telecom company had initially benefited from tariff hikes by private operators in July 2024 which encouraged some users to switch to its services.
