Although the world has known Ivanka Trump as her father, Donald Trump ’s senior advisor in his first administration as she has a brush with politics, and as a businesswoman - the second child of the President of the United States of America is no less when it comes to tending to her family life.
Ivanka, who is widely known and acknowledged as Trump’s favorite among all his children, has three children of her own, whom she shares with her husband Jared Kushner . Ivanka has spoken at length about her children, crediting her own late mother, Ivana Trump, and her stepmother, Melania Trump , as parenting role models.
Speaking of her late mom, who died in 2022 at the age of 73, Ivanka told PEOPLE, "She was the ultimate role model. It was always clear to us that we were her priority, but that doesn't mean we got her 24 hours a day.” As for her stepmother, Ivanka said she was "a great inspiration." She added, “She's done an amazing job sheltering [Barron] from the chaos that comes along with a presidential campaign. Melania is an unbelievable mother.”
Here's everything to know about Ivanka Trump’s kids: Arabella Rose, Joseph Frederick, and Theodore James.
Arabella Rose Kushner, 13:
After tying the knot in 2009, Ivanka and Jared welcomed their first child, daughter Arabella Rose, in New York City on July 17, 2011. Sharing the news via social media platform, X, Ivanka wrote, “This morning [Jared] and I welcomed a beautiful and healthy little baby girl into the world. We feel incredibly grateful and blessed. Thank you all for your support and well wishes!"
Over the years, Ivanka has shared glimpses of her daughter's life and her personality. Through all those snippets, we now know that Arabella hoped to be in the Marines someday, and her favorite holiday was Hanukkah because of the presents.
After Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States, and Ivanka became a senior advisor to her father, Arabella occasionally joined her mom at the White House for official state visits and duties. Ivanka took Arabella on an observation trip to the Supreme Court in February 2017 as well. They posed on the steps of the Supreme Court building before leaving. Sharing photos from that event, Ivanka wrote, “Arabella and I visited the Supreme Court this morning and attended a hearing. I'm grateful for the opportunity to teach her about the judicial system in our country firsthand.”
When Arabella accompanied Ivanka to a Lunar New Year party at the Chinese embassy, Ivanka posted a video on Instagram of Arabella singing a song in Mandarin she learned for the celebration. Arabella showed off her vocal skills again when China's President Xi Jinping visited Mar-a-Lago in April 2017, and her younger brother Joseph joined her.
Ivanka took to social media to share her joy, and wrote, “Very proud of Arabella and Joseph for their performance in honor of President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan's official visit to the US!”
In June 2023, Arabella celebrated her bat mitzvah, a Jewish coming-of-age ritual. Ivanka shared family photos from the day on Instagram, where she wrote, “We couldn't be prouder of the extraordinary young woman she has become. Her kindness, creativity, humor, empathy and passion have filled our lives with so much joy and inspiration. May her Bat Mitzvah be the beginning of a beautiful and fulfilling chapter in her life.”
Joseph Frederick Kushner, 10:
After Arabella, Ivanka and Jared expanded their family with the birth of their second child, Joseph Frederick Kushner, on October 14, 2013. Ivanka shared the news of her son’s birth via Instagram, captioning, “With love we welcome our son, Joseph Frederick Kushner." Ivanka also took to X, where she wrote, "We just welcomed a beautiful & healthy son into the world. Jared, Arabella and I couldn't be happier!"
After sharing the news of her first son’s birth, Ivanka revealed that her son's name was inspired by his great-grandfathers: Jared's grandfather Joseph, whom she described as having an "indomitable spirit," and Ivanka's grandfather Frederick, who fostered their "tight-knit family." She added, "Both men set the standards that have been passed down through the generations and which we hope to impart upon Joseph and Arabella. We are honored to name our son after these two distinguished men.”
As Ivanka has shared over the years, Joseph is an avid basketball fan. The mother-son duo attended game 4 of the NBA Finals in May 2023, where the Denver Nuggets played the Miami Heat. Ivanka then shared a photo of Joseph from near the court.
Theodore James Kushner, 8:
Theodore is the third child of Ivanka and Jared, who was born on March 27, 2016.
Ivanka took to social media to share the expansion of their family, writing, "Jared and I feel incredibly blessed to announce the arrival of Theodore James Kushner. Baby Theodore. My heart is full. xx, Ivanka #grateful.”
While Ivanka previously shared her photo holding the newborn, a couple of days later, the mother of three shared another ‘love’ly snap of the newborn baby with her husband and his older sister.
Ahead of Theodore’s birth, Ivanka revealed to PEOPLE that Arabella was the first to announce the pregnancy, to her classmates. In her own words, "Her whole nursery school class was congratulating me," while Ivanka shared that their family didn't know then.
Theodore's brother Joseph was also excited about his arrival. Ivanka told PEOPLE that her middle child quickly adapted to being an older sibling. As per her, “He’s loved it. He loves giving Theodore his bottle, he loves snuggling with us for books, he’s always trying to kiss him. Obviously, doctor’s orders is not to have your young child kissing the baby’s face but it’s really hard to stop that!”
Ivanka as a mom-of-three:
Although Ivanka has been quite open with her parenting along with her husband Jared Kushner, she also revealed that she had suffered from postpartum depression after each of her pregnancies. The daughter of Trump was also open about how she evolved as a mother. She recounted her first pregnancy, saying, "With Arabella I was so nervous all the time, I was nervous about breaking her, I was nervous about dropping her, I was nervous about all the basic elements of being a first-time parent.” She went on to say, “With Joseph, I was materially less nervous and now with Theodore I’m so busy chasing the other ones I don’t have time to be nervous!”
