Kolkata, January 27 : In a significant development, Mumbai Police arrested a woman from the Chapra area of Nadia district in West Bengal on Monday in connection with the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Investigations revealed that the SIM card used by the primary suspect, a Bangladeshi national, was registered under the woman’s name.
Saif Ali Khan AttackThe attack occurred on January 16, when Saif Ali Khan was reportedly stabbed six times at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition, where he underwent plastic surgery on his spine. Saif was discharged from the hospital on January 21 after recovering from the injuries.
A two-member team from Mumbai Police arrived in West Bengal on Sunday and, in collaboration with state police, conducted a raid that led to the woman’s arrest. According to a senior officer of the Nadia district police, the Bangladeshi suspect had illegally crossed the border into West Bengal and stayed in the region for an extended period.
The arrested woman allegedly facilitated the suspect’s stay and provided her documents to purchase a SIM card. Authorities believe these actions played a crucial role in the crime. Police are currently interrogating the woman to gather further information about her involvement and the suspect’s whereabouts.
