BPL Ration Card : An important change has been made for ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh. Now to avail free grains (rice and wheat), it will be mandatory for the beneficiaries to get e-KYC (electronic-KYC). Time till February 15 has been given for this. If a ration card holder does not get e-KYC done, his ration card will be canceled and he will not get the benefit of free ration.
It has already started in districts like Gorakhpur and Etawah, where a large number of ration card holders have not yet done e-KYC. If e-KYC is not done by the stipulated time limit, then ration card holders will not get ration. Also, fake ration card holders will be identified and removed.
All ration card holders will have to get e-KYC done as soon as possible, otherwise they may be deprived of the free ration scheme.
The changes made in the process of e-KYC for ration cards in Uttar Pradesh are very important. The aim of this new step is to make the ration distribution system transparent and more effective.
1. The deadline has been extended: Earlier the deadline was till December 31, but now this time has been extended to February 15. Under this change, if a beneficiary does not get e-KYC done on time, his ration card will be canceled.
2. Updated information of ration card: Ration card holders have to do e-KYC of all their family members. If any member of the family does not do e-KYC, he will be removed from the card and his share of ration will also be reduced.
3. Cooperation of ration dealers: Ration dealers have been instructed to go door-to-door and motivate beneficiaries to get e-KYC done. If a person is in another state, he can get his e-KYC done there as well.
4. Elimination of fake ration cards: The e-KYC process will help in detecting fake ration card holders, and they will be excluded from the scheme.
5. Large number of beneficiaries affected in Etawah: About 4 lakh people in Etawah district have not participated in the e-KYC process, due to which they may be deprived of free ration. The District Supply Officer has warned that if e-KYC is not done on time, these beneficiaries will not get ration
