An ex-flight attendant has named two seats which could leave you as one of the last people on the plane. If you're someone who likes to make a swift exit from the plane as soon as it lands, you might want to think twice before booking seats 11A or 11F.
A former American Airlines flight attendant has revealed why these two seat numbers could be your worst choice if you're in a hurry. According to the ex-employee, row 11 is typically the last to disembark, and the window seats especially 11A and 11F are the slowest to vacate. They said: "If you’re looking for a quick exit, avoid row 11 at all costs. Being in the middle row, especially in a window seat, which tends to be either A or F, almost guarantees you’ll be one of the last off the plane.”
The issue is simple: passengers sitting in window seats often need to wait for everyone else in the aisle seats to get up and move out first. Combine that with the general rush of passengers trying to get off, it can slow down the disembarkation process significantly. This can be particularly frustrating if you're trying to catch a connecting flight, make it to baggage reclaim quickly, or just avoid the chaos of everyone crowding the aisles.

This advice is particularly relevant if you're flying during busy periods like Christmas. The same flight attendant pointed out that, contrary to popular belief, Christmas Eve is actually one of the calmest days to fly. While many people try to avoid flying on December 24 to dodge the holiday chaos, it turns out that this is the best day for a smoother journey because of less crowded airports, shorter lines, and fewer delays.
Matt Pfleiderer, CEO of Air & Cruise Parking, explains, “At Air & Cruise Parking, we’re always looking for ways to make travel as seamless as possible for our customers. Partnering with an experienced flight attendant allows us to provide insider tips that go beyond just parking solutions. Hearing insights like avoiding row 11 for quicker deboarding, or booking on 24th rather than earlier in the Christmas period, can help make travelers' journeys smoother from start to finish. Whether it’s planning your seat selection or finding convenient parking for your trip, we’re here to help every step of the way.”
Next time you book a flight, remember to skip 11A and 11F - or if you simply aren’t too bothered about being one of the last people to leave the plan then maybe you can just stay seated and watch all those who are rushing to be somewhere in a time pinch whilst you aren’t!
