The Delhi Capitals, two-time finalists, have begun their preparations with a rigorous week-long preseason camp in Pune as the third edition of the Women’s Premier League 2025 approaches.

Important players have joined the JSW-GMR co-owned team, including South African Marizanne Kapp, India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, out-of-favor Indian starter Shafali Verma, and Radha Yadav.

Under the close supervision of head coach Jonathan Batty, the team players are aggressively preparing for the season with intense practices.

The Delhi Capitals fell to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 final after finishing second to the Mumbai Indians in the first edition in 2023.

Following the tournament opening between the reigning champions RCB-W and Gujarat Giants, they will begin their 2025 campaign on February 15 against the Mumbai Indians at the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara.

The lack of suitable training facilities in Vadodara, which will host WPL matches for the first time, is reportedly one of the primary reasons the Delhi Capitals have established their camp in Pune.

The current weather in Pune is comparable to that in Vadodara, which will assist the Delhi Capitals’ international players in preparing for what to expect when the competition begins.

In the December 2024 Bengaluru auction, the Delhi Capitals added four new players to their roster in preparation for the 2025 World Premier League. Along with young Indian players Nandini Kashyap, N. Chiarini, and Niki Prasad—who helped India win the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia—they also acquired Scottish wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce.

All-rounder Charini, who cost Rs 88 lakh, was the most expensive player the Delhi Capitals acquired at the auction and, together with Niki Prasad, will be the most watched player in the next IPL.

Alice Capsey, Arundhati Reddy, Jemimah Rodrigues, Jess Jonassen, Marizanne Kapp, Meg Lanning (c), Minnu Mani, Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma, Shikha Pandey, Sneha Deepthi, Taniyaa Bhatia, Titas Sadhu, Annabel Sutherland, Nandini Kashyap, N Charani, Sarah Bryce, and Niki Prasad are the Delhi Capitals team.
