Party head Akhilesh Yadav said Thursday that the Election Commission is “dead” and that this is how the BJP runs its elections in response to accusations made by the Samajwadi Party over the Milkipur by-election in Uttar Pradesh.
“The BJP runs its electoral campaigns in this way. The Election Commission has passed away. Akhilesh told ANI, “We’ll have to give them white cloth.”
Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday that police were examining voter ID cards. Yadav called on the Election Commission to take steps to remove those responsible in a post on X.
“Ayodhya police are checking voters’ ID cards in Milkipur, and senior police officers are involved. The Election Commission should take immediate notice of the images associated with this news.” Indirectly influencing voting by instilling fear in voters is a democratic crime. Punitive measures should be implemented and such individuals should be removed right away,” he said.
In response to the Samajwadi Party Chief’s accusation, Ayodhya Police said that booth agents’ identification cards—not voters’—were being examined. “Not make false statements” was another request made of the previous CM.
Ayodhya police claimed in a post on the social networking platform X that they were verifying the identification of a candidate’s booth agent rather than that of voters.
The identification card of the booth agent is seen in the above photo; it has been confirmed that the individual in the picture is a booth agent for a candidate. “Please refrain from sending deceptive tweets,” they urged.
Ajit Prasad, the Samajwadi Party’s candidate for the Milkipur assembly by-elections, previously discussed the voting procedure and claimed that certain individuals were interfering with it in an interview with ANI.
“The Samajwadi Party is winning the votes, but some nefarious elements are attempting to sway the electorate,” he said. Milkipur residents are solely voting for us, despite pressure from the local police to abstain from voting for the Samajwadi Party.
According to Prasad, “I am getting complaints that our agents are not being allowed to enter the polling booths.” He also expressed worry over his party’s election operatives being denied entrance to polling places.
In the meanwhile, the by-elections that ended on Wednesday saw 57.13 percent of voters come out in Uttar Pradesh’s Milkipur assembly seat.
