Indian Railways has brought great news for travelers! The Vande Bharat Express, now equipped with 16 coaches, is set to run between two key cities, enhancing connectivity and passenger capacity. This development is a New Year gift from the Railway Minister and promises to make travel more comfortable for the growing number of passengers.

Passengers traveling between Patna, the capital of Bihar, and two major destinations – Howrah and Lucknow – have a reason to celebrate. Indian Railways has decided to introduce the Vande Bharat Express with 16 coaches on these routes. This decision comes in response to the increasing passenger demand. Initially, the train running between Patna and Lucknow's Gomti Nagar (train number 22345/22346) will be upgraded with the larger rack.

Reports confirm that the Vande Bharat Express with 16 coaches has already arrived in Patna for the route connecting Patna and Lucknow. In the second phase, the upgraded train for the Patna-Howrah route will also reach Patna soon. After conducting the necessary trials, the expanded operations will begin. Meanwhile, the existing eight-coach Vande Bharat train currently in service will be relocated to Chennai once the new setup is operational.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared during a virtual conference that 12 Vande Bharat trains currently pass through or operate in 15 districts of Bihar. The eight-coach Vande Bharat Express was launched on March 12, 2024, connecting Patna and Lucknow, followed by the Patna-Howrah route, which started operations on December 24, 2023.

The increasing passenger load on both routes has made it challenging for many to secure reservations. To address this, Indian Railways decided to deploy 16-coach Vande Bharat trains to ease the pressure and provide a smoother journey experience. This thoughtful step ensures greater convenience for travelers and supports the growing demand for rail connectivity in the region.
