In a message to shareholders, CEO Deepinder Goyal confirmed that the board had approved the name change. As part of the transition, the corporate website will shift from zomato.com to eternal.com, and the stock ticker will also be updated to reflect the new identity. The company’s four key businesses—Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure—will now operate under the "Eternal" umbrella.

Social media reacts

One playful suggestion proposed modifying the new name to "Zeternal" for easier access at the end of app lists.

Another echoed a similar sentiment and said that since the app's name began with Z, it was easier to find it.

One user expressed disappointment over the name change, stating that Zomato had a unique identity and would always remain Zomato in their mind, playfully comparing it to familiar words like tomato and potato.

Another took a humorous approach, speculating that the rebrand could indicate international expansion, a shift toward health and lifestyle solutions, or even a potential acquisition of Ultrahuman. They clarified that they weren’t making predictions but simply sharing a thought.

Others remained sceptical, with one remarking that "Zomato" itself had a more timeless appeal. Another differentiated between the two names, describing Zomato as an emotion while Eternal felt more like a brand.

Some welcomed the change, with one person praising the name Eternal as meaningful and reflective of the company’s values. Another suggested consolidating all Zomato-owned services under a single "Eternal" super app, arguing that too many separate apps clutter the user experience and a streamlined approach would be more convenient.
