New Delhi: The second FIR has been filed against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina for making obscene remarks and broadcasting them on India’s Got Latent. The Maharashtra cyber police have also booked other artists after the latest episode of the show sparked outrage. Earlier, Assam Police registered an FIR against the duo on Monday (February 10).
The Maharashtra cyber police have also booked around 30 people over the use of derogatory and obscene remarks during the show. The official confirmed to the Indian Express that the FIR involves people who have been involved in the show since its inception. Let’s delve into further details!
A senior officer confirmed that police have charged Ranveer Allhabadia, Samay Raina, and other artists under section 67 9transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, among other sections. The cyber police also said that they have registered a case against 30 individuals including artists, hosts, judges and contestants of all six episodes of India’s Got Latent. The police have also initiated the process of sending out notices to all 30 individuals.
Additionally, the National Commission for Women has summoned YouTuber Ranveer Allhabadia, Samay Raina and others over their derogatory remarks on the show. The r hearing will take place on February 17.
After the controversy was sparked, Ranveer Allahbadia apologised for his “vulgar and obscene comments”. In a video, he accepted that his comment wasn’t just “inappropriate but wasn’t even funny, adding that comedy is not his forte. Extending his apology, he took the responsibility, adding, “Personally, I had a lapse in judgment. What I said was not acceptable.”
On Tuesday (February 11), a team of Versova Police reached the residence of Ranveer Allahbadia following the massive controversy. For the unversed, Allahbadia sparked outrage on social media by asking an inappropriate question to a contestant.
