Banned Chinese Apps: In the year 2020, the Indian government banned more than 200 apps including TikTok. Now 36 of these apps have returned. This also includes the popular sharing app Xender. These apps are available for download in the Google Play Store and Apple Store. Let us tell you that some apps have returned with slight changes, such as their brand names or owners have changed. Some other apps have tied up with Indian companies so that they can run legally. However, the popular short video app TikTok, which was banned in the year 2020, has not returned.
The 36 Chinese apps that have returned to India include Xender, MangoTV, Youku, Taobao and the dating app Tantan. It has returned to Apple's App Store under the name "Xender: File Share, Share Music". However, it is not yet available on Google Play Store. Apart from this, the dating app has changed its name to "TanTan - Asian Dating App". However, Alibaba Group's Taobao has not returned without any rebranding. It is available under the same name.
Let us tell you that some apps have made slight changes in their brand and owner information, while some others have found a way to work legally by making deals with Indian companies. Chinese streaming platform MangoTV has returned without any changes. Neither its name has changed nor its identity. Apart from this, Youku, a big video streaming service in China, which is often considered similar to YouTube, has also returned.
Fashion shopping app Sherin has partnered with Reliance. This partnership ensures that its data will remain in India. PUBG Mobile, which was banned in 2020, returned as Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) under South Korea's Krafton company. However, BGMI was also banned again in 2022, but it was restarted in 2023 after meeting India's security regulations.
