What started as a modest soda shop in 1907 has flourished into one of the country’s most cherished ice cream brands delighting generations with its rich and creamy treats. As the demand for his delicious frozen treats surged Vadilal Gandhi knew he had struck gold. After Vadilal Gandhi his son Ranchod Lal Gandhi took over the business in 1926. He opened the first retail outlet Vadilal Soda Fountain in Ahmedabad marking a pivotal moment in the company’s history. Recognizing the potential of ice cream he imported an advanced ice cream-making machine from Germany setting new quality standards. By the time India gained independence Vadilal had four outlets in Ahmedabad firmly establishing itself as a name to reckon with. It was under the leadership of Ranchod Lal Gandhi’s sons Ramchandra and Laxman Gandhi the business flourished further. During the 1970s. Vadilal expanded to 10 outlets across Gujarat further strengthening its brand presence. The 1990s saw the entry of the fourth generation—Virendra Rajesh and Shailesh (sons of Ramchandra Gandhi) and Devanshu (son of Laxman Gandhi). Vadilal Archived Many Milestones: In  November 2021 the company secured a place in the Limca Book of Records for creating the ‘Largest Ice Cream Sundae.’  This massive dessert consisted of 4950 liters of ice cream 125 kg of dry fruits 255 kg of fresh fruits and 390 liters of assorted sauces all assembled in just 60 minutes with the help of 180 people. Vadilal is a household name in India today and the best-selling Indian ice cream brand in the United States. Now led by the fifth generation with Kalpit Gandhi as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) the company continues to flourish.
