Google Pay, the country’s second-largest UPI payment company, is charging convenience fees from users for many services. However, it has been seen that most of the users of Google Pay are unaware of the convenience fees being charged for different services. According to a report by the Economic Times, Google Pay has charged its users for those services which were completely free earlier.

Let us tell you that UPI payment companies are already charging fees for mobile recharge. Apart from Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm are also charging fees from customers. This fee can be from 0.5% to 1% of the transaction value. Not only this, GST also has to be paid for these services.
Fees will have to be paid only if payment is made by card.
Google Pay provides the facility for many types of bill payments. However, there is no option to pay by card for many payments on this platform. If Google Pay users pay the bill through their credit card or debit card, then they will also have to pay the fee. However, if they make payment directly from UPI linked bank account, then they will not have to pay the fee. Let us tell you that PhonePe is in first place in the list of major companies providing UPI services in India, followed by a total market share of 47.8 per cent. Google Pay is in second place with a 37 per cent share.
