Prior to the Secretary General’s visit, Julie Bishop, the UN Special Envoy on Myanmar, had been to Bangladesh. At the State Guest House Jamuna, Bishop met with head adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and said that the UN head will also go to the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.

“The UN Secretary General is scheduled to go to Bangladesh. Without providing any details, Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain informed the press, “We are still working out his final programs.”

According to a source who spoke to ANI, the three-day journey will begin on March 13.
Given Bangladesh’s political and security difficulties, the UN Secretary General’s impending visit is seen as very important.

Waker-Uz-Zaman, the chief general of the Bangladesh Army, said earlier on Tuesday that if people do not put aside their disagreements and cease throwing dirt at one another, Bangladesh’s sovereignty would be in danger.
“I’m alerting you. He said at a gathering in the nation’s capital, Dhaka, “The independence and sovereignty of this country and nation will be at stake if you cannot put aside your differences and work together, if you engage in mudslinging and fighting.”

“If I didn’t tell you now, you would claim that I didn’t warn you. We are all the owners of this nation. Everyone wants to live in harmony and serenity. We do not want disputes or altercations. “We are striving to achieve that objective,” he said.

Regarding the next national elections, he said that the government would undoubtedly assist with the changes before the polls and that the nation is on its way to a free, fair, and inclusive election.

“Every time I spoke to Dr. Yunus, I wholeheartedly agreed with him that there needed to be an inclusive, free, and fair election and that it must take place in December or shortly thereafter, as I had originally said about an election within 18 months. The Army Chief said, “I think the government is moving in that direction.”
