The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is one of the biggest projects for farmers in India's government. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi project was launched on February 24, 2019.
What is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana?
It aims to provide ₹6,000 annual assistance. The idea came from Telangana's Raithu Bandhu project, which encouraged farmers' investment.
Its biggest benefit is minimum income support. Each family gets ₹6,000 annually. The Government of India funds it, but states identify beneficiaries. A family includes a spouse and children.
To be eligible, one must be an Indian citizen with up to 2 hectares of land used for farming. Farming should be the main income source. Pensioners and taxpayers over ₹10,000 are not eligible.
People owning institutional land or holding government posts cannot receive its benefits. Ministers, MPs, PSU employees, and municipal leaders can also not avail themselves of the scheme.
Eligible farmers can register through local authorities or Common Service Centres (CSC). Register online in the 'Farmer Corner' section on the PMKSNY website.
Click on 'New Farmer Registration', and enter your Aadhaar, mobile number, state, and OTP for verification. You will need land documents, income certificate, Aadhaar card and an active bank account.
Check your installment status under 'Beneficiary Status' on the official website. For issues, email pmkisan-ict@gov.in or call 155261, 1800115526 (toll-free) or 011-23381092.
