The Vartak Nagar police arrested three prime suspects and detained three others for allegedly storming into a computer shop armed with weapons, including a sword, and assaulting two individuals over a petty dispute in Thane on Thursday.
The incident occurred at a computer class in Indira Nagar, Wagle Estate, under the jurisdiction of the Vartak Nagar police station. On Thursday night, six individuals allegedly entered the shop wielding swords, assaulted two people, and damaged a CCTV camera with a sword. The act was captured on the shop’s CCTV system.
A video of the assault quickly went viral on social media. The CCTV footage shows two men sitting inside the shop after closing the door. The assailants knocked, barged in with a sword, attacked them, and allegedly vandalized computers, chairs, and the CCTV camera.
According to the police, they received information about the attack and reached the scene, where they obtained the footage. A manhunt was launched, leading to the arrest of three suspects, while three others were detained. The police have not disclosed the names of the accused due to the ongoing investigation.
Rajkumar Wakchaure, Senior Police Inspector of Vartak Nagar Police Station, said, "We have registered an FIR against them on charges of attempted murder and relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Upon receiving the information, our teams pursued the suspects, leading to three arrests and the detention of three others. Preliminary investigations suggest that a minor dispute triggered the attack. Further investigation is underway."
