Sweet Magnolias hasn't received the official green light from Netflix just yet but a significant hint suggests the show might be returning for season five.

The series, based on Sherryl Woods' Sweet Magnolias novels, is set in the fictional town of Serenity and is known for its suburban drama and gossip.

More than a month has since passed without any news of a fifth season but despite Netflix's silence, a major clue indicates that season five may have already been greenlit.

The Writers Guild of America's directory, which helps employers find writers for their projects, lists Sweet Magnolias season five for a 2025-2026 production and start date.

Former executive producer Sheryl J Anderson is also listed as the showrunner for the fifth series, suggesting that things are moving behind the scenes despite Netflix's ongoing silence.

This isn't the only hint that the show will continue, especially considering the cliffhanger about Maddie's future.

It's not uncommon for TV series to be cancelled midway, even if they leave viewers with unanswered questions. However, the likelihood of a show being axed decreases after several successful seasons.

The Sweet Magnolias series by Woods boasts an impressive 11 books, providing ample material for future seasons.

As for when will officially announce the return of this small-town drama, we're all left in suspense.
