Brits reveal exactly who they want to see perform at World Cup final half-time show

The World Cup final is set to have aand UK fans have voiced their top picks for who they'd like to see rock the stage.

Taking a leaf out of the book with its legendary half-time gigs, the aim is to bring more spectacle and entertainment to football's biggest night.

A poll of over 2,000 adults has now revealed the musical acts Brits are rooting for at the event, with a mix of chart-topping artists and iconic bands topping the list.

While fans are buzzing about the potential line-up, the final call is expected to involve some creative input from who is helping FIFA curate the line-up for the show.

Among the most sought-after performers were , Fleetwood Mac, and even Coldplay themselves. Other hot favourites include and Oasis, while also garnered significant backing, but just missed out on making the top five.

Louise Care from OnePoll, the research agency behind the survey, said: "Coldplay are putting the event together [but] will they be able to resist taking to the stage themselves?"

"There's still plenty of time for these decisions to be made, and time will tell whether a World Cup half-time show grows to rival the pop culture relevance of its American football counterpart."

The survey also revealed that 11% of respondents would love to see Eminem take centre stage at the show, closely followed by who bagged 10% of the votes.

Rock legend Rod Stewart was the top choice for 8%, with Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys also making the cut. While rock music was the preferred genre for 41% of participants, most were keen on some lively pop tunes.

Hip hop or rap was the go-to for a fifth of those surveyed, reminiscent of performance at this year's Superbowl.

To spice things up, 31% expressed interest in seeing a tribute to football history. However, a solid 43% would be chuffed with a good old fireworks or lights display.

Louise chimed in: "There have long been big music displays kicking off these international tournaments. But the idea of putting one on at half time is quite a new idea, when it comes to football."

She added: "They've only got 15 minutes to spare between halves, here's hoping Coldplay picks someone with short songs."
