BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay was missing in action on Monday morning (March 17) as Roger Johnson stepped in to replace him. The news anchor, who usually stars alongside Sally Nugent from Mondays to Wednesdays, was nowhere to be seen during the latest episode, as Sally sat on the famous red sofa with Roger.
Despite the unexpected shake-up, fans quickly complimented Roger's appearance on the BBC show. Heading straight over to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: "Reminder that any day @RogerJ_01 is on the sofa is a good one. Let's have him permanently, please! He's pleasant, clever, and never asks a stupid question."
Meanwhile, another viewer was also impressed with Roger's interview with Neil O'Brien and wrote: "Well done, Roger!"
Regular presenter Jon did not update fans regarding his disappearance on social media, and at the time of this writing, there was also no mention of why he was missing from the show.
This isn't the first shake-up on the show in the last few days. Over the weekend Breakfast was shortened on Saturday as part of a significant schedule change.
Normally airing until 10am, the show ended at 9:30am, affecting the start time of the popular Saturday Kitchen.
Viewers who tuned in at the usual 6am slot saw Charlie Stayt, 62, hosting alongside Sarah Campbell, 50. After an eventful show, BBC Breakfast concluded 30 minutes earlier than usual.
As the clock hit 9:30am, Sarah informed viewers, "That's all for today's Breakfast. We'll be back with all the news tomorrow at 6am."
Charlie followed with, "Enjoy your weekend, and goodbye for now."
This change caused Saturday Kitchen to begin at 9:30am instead of its regular 10am time, running until 11am.
Following that, Football Focus took over, leading into a brief news segment at 11:30am, before live coverage of the Women's League Cup Final at 11:45am.
The final featured an intense match between Chelsea Women's team and Manchester City.
BBC Breakfast airs Mondays-Sundays from 6am on BBC One.
